Ivory – A Walking Miracle
&
The Heart of Our Mission
Ivory was diagnosed with developmental delays at birth, taking two years just to sit up — yet she overcame every limitation placed on her. Her strength and determination have shaped the very soul of Ivory’s Place.
She began serving the community in 2012, standing beside her family with compassion beyond her years. Ivory graduated from Gainesville High School with her senior class, completed two years in Santa Fe College’s Saints Program, and was later hired to support the same program she once attended.
As a Special Olympics basketball athlete, Ivory has competed across states and even in Germany. Today, she still plays — the only woman on a men’s team — representing courage, perseverance, and heart.
God didn’t give her everything the world expected, but He equipped her with everything she needed: independence, direction, and a spirit that never quits. Ivory’s Place is named in her honor — a tribute to her resilience and a promise to pour the same love and hope into others that was poured into her.
David – A Legacy of Service
David, my son began serving with Ivory’s Place in 2012, when he was only 10 years old. With a child’s heart and a grown man’s compassion, he stood beside his mother and learned what it meant to show up for people who needed love, dignity, and hope.
For thirteen years, David has given his time, his strength, and his kindness to the residents of Alachua County. He has helped clothe families, support women in crisis, uplift youth, and bring comfort to those facing their hardest moments.
Now 22, David continues to serve with the same sincerity he had as a boy , proving that compassion, character, and community are not things you grow out of, but things you grow deeper into. His dedication is woven into the legacy of Ivory’s Place, and his impact lives on in every life he has touched.
